A wandering group of nomads, tired of their constant quest for subsistence, have decided to stay in one place. No one know for sure why they did this (maybe they were tired, maybe they discovered how to cultivate crops, or maybe aliens taught them...the only thing that matters is that they did! Ha!). The year is 4000 BC and they decide that their settlement shall be called Stockholm and what a glorious home. Although, it is in the middle of a desert, it has grazing sheep to the south and east of the city. Cattle are located to the far west on the banks of the Fertile River (as it is the only river known to the Swedish and is the most fertile thing they know of for food). The Swedish really like this spot for the luxuries it will give them. Three deposits of gems have been found in the area, as well as sugar on the banks of the Fertile River! (This is a great starting location, maybe the best I've ever seen while playing CiV).
The Swedish people decide to train a scout for a little more exploration, they want to know what's out there. Meanwhile, some of the villagers discover that taking clay and adding water will allow them to make things with the mixture. They decide to investigate a little further. (I want pottery because I want to build a shrine right off the bat, because I want a religion...a granary will come in handle for fast pop growth as well). The Swedish warriors head south and discover a very fertile plain with wheat as well as a two forests with some game, which they name the ever creative Major Deer Wood and Meager Deer Wood.

| Major Deer Wood to the North with the Meager Deer Wood to the South. The Fertile River makes its way from the mountains to the sea in the north. |
A scout is dispatched to the east, across the desert and discovers that the mountains continue for a good distance. There is only one way to the east and it is through Stockholm and the desert. From that point on, the Swedish people call the route the Stockholm Pass and decide to call the mountains the Unknowables, because they believe the peaks are so high that no one will ever know what is up there. As the scout makes his way around the Stockholm Pass he discovers a piece of land jutting out into the ocean and follows it. He discovers, to his astonishment, another city, Prague. They welcome the foreigner with gold and send him on his way.
In the meantime, in the south, the band or warriors has discovered that the Meager Deer Wood (or the Meager as it becomes commonly known), is not so meager. It has another valuable resource called cotton deep within it's branches in a pass through the Unknowables known as the Cotton Pass. Further south, they discover another city called Yerevan and are treated hospitably. They continue their journey to discover the end of land and another ocean (Are they on an island??). The continue westwards across the Golden Wheat Plains and come across the beginnings of another river as well as another band of warriors...
